Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

User 1: This tablet is definitely better than an iPad 2 albeit it slightly. That said, it still has some setbacks for which it doesn’t get a five star rating from me — I’d give it a four star rating. This is the second unit I am buying, though (That should give you an idea of how highly I think of it). I think that the Motorola Xoom is a true rival to this but I think it’s down to personal preferences which one you pick eventually.

I love the freedom this gives you as to how you can work. That’s what I personally hate about the iPad 2. I believe you should decide how you intend to work. The Android Os works very well and is easy to personalize to your heart’s content. Another thing I noticed is that it has a much cleaner interface than the iPad 2.

If you look at its battery life when compared to the iPad 2, the Galaxy Tab has a slightly lower battery life. I think this might be because it has a slightly brighter screen. But when it comes to screen resolution, the Tab 10.1 beats the iPad easily. This is very important if you want better pictures and less eye strain while reading on it. Another thing about the Tab’s screen that I prefer is the superior viewing you get for anything HD.

The iPad’s cameras don’t even come close to those of the Tab 10.1. Although it is a close call when it comes to which is lighter, the Tab is also lighter as it is also thinner. But if you are looking for a product with a better visual appeal, the iPad 2 wins in this area.

I don’t consider this to be the product that will run out the iPad from the market. Those who have a loyalty to the brand will definitely go for it in spite of the better value on other brands but, that said, I think this tab would have been a lot better if it came at a lower price and had an SD slot among other minor issues I have learned to put up with. But there’s NO way I’ll NOT rate the Tab 10.1 highly. It’s outstanding and is good value. It is recommended by me.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Review

User 2: If you are looking for a tab that will really help you work better, this is it. I give it a five star rating because I consider it to be a real business tool among other things. It so fills my needs that I consider it a fair replacement to my laptop.

It is solid and feels good. It also looks good. If you are looking for thin and light, this is it. It handles tasks with ease. It is very responsive. It will handle apps without complaints and Youtube videos without stuttering.

If you have a Google account and previous Android device, you will discover that the Tab 10.1 will automatically sync, download and install them all as it did with almost all the apps on my smartphone. This is a time-saver.

I the space I have to store my files (By the way, I bought the 32gig version). The connectivity options are NOT good enough but I have NOT had any problems with those since it’s easy for you to move data through wifi. However, since Samsung will soon roll out adapters to give you more options, this should reduce this annoyance. This might be an issue for a lot of folks but I don’t have problems buying accessories that I deem needful to get the best from my devices.

If you have an Android smartphone, like I do, then you’ll be pleased with the results you get if you set your phone as the wifi hotspot and then connect the tab to it — It is simply wonderful.

The virtual keyboard is very good and quite large especially for those who have become used to those on phones. The battery life is pretty good. I have had up to 19 hours from it (With 20% juice left in it) while using it for regular stuff. I didn’t do only extremes (Youtubes/games only or just reading documents) within this period. It was a blend of them all. This should give you an idea of how well it works.

If you just want to watch photos, play songs and do minor stuff then there are a lot of tabs out there for you to choose from. However, if you are looking for a business tool (Something that will help you get more productive) while offering the opportunity to cool off when you need to (Play games; watch videos) then you should go for this tab. It is NOT perfect but it is good enough to get my five star rating. You won’t be disappointed if you buy it.
